The Tidewater Boating Center brings a wide variety of boating activities to a little-used portion of Martin Luther King Jr. Regional Shoreline on the Oakland Estuary. The project is a partnership between the East Bay Regional Park District and the Oakland Strokes, a rowing club serving 200 high school youth from Oakland and surrounding communities. The Strokes is the facilities’ primary tenant. The Center also offers public canoeing and kayaking programs and public meeting space. Durability and sustainable design were both important considerations in the design.
