Working with the NPS GGNRA Facilities Management South District, Siegel & Strain and their team recently completed a seismic retrofit study and conceptual design for the rehabilitation of Presidio Building 643. Once rehabilitated, the building and adjacent site will house consolidated facility management operations, currently located in numerous buildings throughout the Presidio and GGNRA. Seismic retrofit alternatives and schematic design layouts were developed with cost estimates and examined for their potential for phased implementation. The Park has selected a preferred scheme, and Siegel & Strain is currently completing Title II Design Services. The selected scheme will execute a complete seismic retrofit of the metal frame and hollow clay tile historic structure.
Located on the south edge of Crissy Field, Building 643 is a contributing structure to the Presidio National Historic Landmark District, a beloved and very-much occupied campus of buildings located in San Francisco.
